Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
