Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
