Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
